Stephen Adams (Michael Maybrick) lived from 1844 to 1913. He composed mainly ballads. The Holy City, composed in 1892, is one of the most popular British religious songs.

This Laudate Dominum is part of 'Vesperae solennes de confessore' (KV 339) and originally written for worships in the 'Salzburger Dom'. This arrangement can be performed by band only, or with soprano and choir.

The melody of the well-known Ave Maria originated in 1852. For this melody, Gounod was inspired by the Praeludium (in D Major) of the first part of 'Das wohltemperierte Klavier'. Only in 1859 he added the words of a Maria poem to this melody, after which this hymn became known all over the world. Jos Dobbelstein arranged this wonderful melody for soprano and concert band (without barirtone/euphonium part) including the harp and organ.

Fauré composed this requiem in memory of his father. Unlike most requiems, optinism reigns in this composition. Jos Dobbelstein has translated the voices into instrumental parts in a splendid way.

Anton Bruckner (1824-1896) is one of the great masters of classical music. He composed nine symphonies and was also a composer of religious music. Tota Pulchra es Maria was written to honour Maria and was originally written for tenor, mixed choir and organ.

Jihlava is composed in memory of the expulsion of the Südeten-Germans from Bohemia, shortly after worldwar II. These people were driven from their "homeland" and had to leave all their possessions behind. This was also true for the mother of the composer.

This choral melody is from 1599 and attributed to Philipp Nicolai. Bach used it in his cantate 140 and later in his organ prelude BWV 645.  In this arrangement the woodwinds revolve arouns the melody in trumpets and trombones, preserving the original character.
